Sharing is caring!

I want to share with you just how easy preserving green beans in the freezer for food storage is! It’s an easy food preservation tip! When the time came to preserve the awesome green beans we got from our garden this year, there wasn’t enough to bother with canning, so I decided to freeze them. Let me show you how!

How to Preserve Green Beans by Vacuum Sealing

It is incredibly easy to preserve green beans by vacuum sealing them. Then you can just toss them in the freezer. Here’s what you do:

Instructions:

First, snap the ends off of the green beans.

Rinse the green beans in a colander.

Place a towel on the counter. Spread the green beans out in a single layer on the towel.

Allow the green beans to dry completely. It is important not to skip this step because wet green beans may wind up with freezer-burn.

Once the green beans are completely dry, snap the beans into halves or thirds (depending how long they are).

Place the green beans in vacuum seal bags in quantities that would feed your family for one meal per bag.

Using a vacuum sealer, vacuum seal the bag. Vacuum sealing greatly reduces the risk of freezer burn.

Place the vacuum-sealed bags in the freezer.

Remove the bag from the freezer to thaw 2 hours prior to cooking the green beans.
