How to Make Delicious Caramel Corn

Sharing is caring!

Did you bring your sweet tooth?  Today I want to share with you a recipe for delicious caramel corn.  This caramel corn is sooo divine…not your dry Cracker Jack type of stuff…this is delicious and has a slightly gooey coating.

This caramel corn is especially amazing served warm, right after you make it.  It is a great treat to make for a family movie night, kid’s party, or when you just want something delicious and sweet.  Just typing about it makes me want to go make some!!!

One of the things that I love to do on this little blog of mine is share with you some of my favorite treats that I make here on our little urban homestead and today I am doing just that.   You are in for a treat!

Caramel Corn

Caramel Corn Ingredients

8-10 cups of popped popcorn

1/2 c butter

1 c brown sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 c karo syrup

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 tsp baking soda

How to make Caramel Corn

First you will want to pop your popcorn in a popcorn popper (PS I have also used leftover popcorn from the movies to make this caramel corn-YUM!).

While the popcorn is popping, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.  Once the butter is completely melted, add all of the remaining ingredients EXCEPT for the baking soda.  Stir continuously until you have a smooth sauce.

Remove from heat.  Add the baking soda and stir in well.

The easiest way to coat the popcorn with the caramel is to put the popcorn in a paper grocery sack, then add a little caramel sauce at a time and shake/stir well.  If you don’t have a paper grocery sack to shake the caramel corn in, you can use a large bowl or even a turkey roasting pan.  You will want to use something deep  enough that the popcorn isn’t falling out when you are stirring it.

If you like your caramel corn gooey like I do, be sure to put any leftovers in a Ziploc bag.   Before sealing the bag, press out any extra air to keep the caramel corn from drying out.
