My husband, David, takes you on a little tour of our chicken coop and lets you meet our chickens! (My husband and I are starting to have fun with video blogging (vlogging), so please humor us as we share this video!) You can meet “the girls” (our hens) and check out their winter digs at our home here in suburban Salt Lake City, Utah. We finally got some snow on Christmas and it got colder—feels more like winter now. P.S. They don’t like snow!
NEW: Now you can follow us on YouTube—click the YouTube button in the share menu on the right!
Thanks for stopping by Life Between the Kitchen and the Coop and meeting our little ladies!

Seeing live chickens always reminds me of farm and small-town life. Love it.

Wow what a great way to get fresh eggs each morning! I loved seeing it, I never really saw inside one before. I'm a city girl and have never really been to a farm.

I am a city girl, too, Michelle...yet somehow my backyard is becoming a mini-farm! :)

Sounds so much of fun. One of my brother has a Chicken Coop & I really love spending sometime when I visit him during vacation. I really love their fresh eggs, which are so healthy as well.. Thanks for sharing the video.

Oh wow...I think the black, and the black/white speckled hens are so pretty. I actually didn't know that they came in those colors (or markings). I enjoyed hearing the names of the hens. Hawkeye is a cool name! Awe, the new hen gets picked on. How long does it take for them to get acquainted with their new surroundings....or for the other hens to accept the newbie?

The black one is so noisy in the mornings!!! I have to throw her scratch (grains) to make her be quiet!!! There are lots of colors of chickens. The red one isn't very nice! She picks on the younger ones sometimes! Chickens are group animals and each group we get is bonded to each other and travels the yard together in their little "gangs". The white one we got alone because someone was getting rid of it in the paper. Generally I don't recommend getting a solitary chicken...they do better in groups, like I said...and chickens can be mean to each other. The white one is very gentle and gets lots of love from the humans, don't worry :)

I can imagine it would be hard for chickens to walk in the snow, not to mention how cold their feet must get. I hope to start vlogging this year too. :)

Yeah, they really don't walk in the snow unless we shovel away most of it. The are little princesses :) Good luck with the vlogging...so far my husband has been doing it...I will probably bite the bullet and do it soon!
