Drip Coffee Makers Single Cup: The Keurig K-cafe Special Edition

Keurig K-cafe Special Edition Single Serve Cappuccino, Latte, Espresso, and Drip Coffee Maker Review Video

I wanted to review a single cup drip coffee maker because most of the time that is all that I want. I rarely drink more than one or two cups of coffee in a day.

I know some of you might drink a pot or two of coffee in a day (I’m not judging!). If that’s your jam, this will still work for you and give you fresh coffee, a nice foamy cappuccino, or a delicious latte as many times in a day as your little heart desires (or your brain requires!).

I was always reluctant to get a k-cup type of machine because then you are obligated to buy k-cups forever, which is expensive, not to mention terrible for the environment. Then I discovered re-useable k-cups. I told my husband about it, hence I got my fabulous birthday coffee maker gift!

We all have our own way that we like to drink our coffee, don’t we? Some of us like our coffee fully-leaded (strong), while others prefer a more dilute coffee, like a latte. Some of us prefer black coffee, while others of us prefer creamers or coffee flavorings.

If you are a black coffee drinker, the main benefits you will get from the K-cafe Special Edition drip coffee maker is a great cup of black coffee and the ability to make a nice strong espresso. You can add a shot of espresso to your drip coffee to make it stronger or drink the espresso on its own!

How to Make Coffee Beverages

What is Espresso Coffee?

Espresso is a more concentrated (stronger ounce per ounce) black coffee drink.

Espresso: How to Make

The K-cafe Special Edition Cappuccino, Latte, and Drip Coffee maker can make espresso quite easily. You fill your reusable k-cup with your preferred ground coffee brand, pop it in the machine, close it, and then press the “shot” button.

Once you press the “K” start button, that will make you a shot of espresso, which you can then add to other coffee beverages (like a cappuccino) or just drink on its own.

How Do You Make Drip Coffee in the Keurig K-cafe?

To make black drip coffee in the Keurig K-cafe Special Edition, the process is very easy. Turn the machine on, put your K-pod in the machine, select how many ounces of coffee you want to make on the panel on top of the machine, and then push the “K” button on top of the machine to start! Within a couple of minutes, you have a steaming hot cup of black drip coffee!

How to Make Latte From Home

Inside the frothing cannister of the Keurig K-cafe Special Edition Cappuccino, Latte, and Drip Coffee maker, there are two lines that show you how high to fill it with milk or creamer to make a cappuccino or latte.

To make a latte, fill the froth cannister with milk to the latte line (or use flavored creamer if you prefer). Froth the milk, make the coffee, and also a shot of espresso (see directions for that above). Once the shot of espresso is added to the coffee, add the thin layer of milk foam to the coffee. Voila! You have a latte!

How to Make a Cappuccino at Home

As I mentioned, inside the frothing cannister of the K-cafe Special Edition Cappuccino, Latte, and Drip Coffee maker, there are two lines that are marked show you how high to fill the frothing cannister with milk (or creamer) to make a cappuccino or latte.

To make a cappuccino, you make the coffee and a shot of espresso (see instructions for espresso making earlier in this post). Combine those. Fill the frothing cannister to the cappuccino line and then turn it on to get it to froth consistency.

Add the frothed milk to your coffee beverage and you will have a thick layer of foam on top of the coffee and you have a delicious cappuccino!

Difference Between Capp and Latte

Cappuccino and lattes have comparable amounts of caffeine, because both cappuccino and lattes have contain a shot of espresso. There is a thick foam layer on top of cappuccino, while a latte has only a very thin layer of foam.

Cappuccino, Latte, and Drip Coffee Maker Review

You can probably tell that I freakin’ love my K-cafe Special Edition. It’s awesome inviting friends over for coffee and a chat. We give up the crazy coffee shop prices, but don’t give up the delicious coffee beverages we can get at a coffee shop. I give the K-cafe Special Edition a five star review! I’d give it ten stars if I could!

Best Brands of Ground Coffee

A review of a cappuccino, latte, and drip coffee maker would not be complete if I didn’t share some of our favorite products to use with our K-cafe Special Edition. We usually keep a few different kinds of bagged coffee in our cupboards, which we use to fill the reusable k-cups when we make coffee, cappuccino, or lattes.

Here are affiliate links to a few of my favorite kinds of coffee to keep on hand:

Starbuck’s Breakfast Blend Coffee

Seattle’s Best 6th Avenue Bistro Dark Roast Coffee

Dunkin Original Blend Medium Roast Coffee

Beans and Brews House Blend Coffee

All of these brands make amazing coffee beverages in the Keurig K-Cafe Special Edition Coffee, Latte, and Cuppuccino maker! You can buy them ground, or if you prefer, you can buy them whole bean and grind them yourself in your coffee grinder.

Coffee Creamer Brand Recommendations

We also like to keep a few liquid coffee creamers on hand because they taste so dreamy frothed in our coffee!

These are the liquid coffee creamer brands that are most commonly found in my refrigerator. They make delicious frothed cream of the Keurig K-cafe special edition coffee, latte, and cappuccino maker!
