French Dip Au Jus Sandwiches

Sharing is caring!

This French dip au jus sandwich recipe is an old standby that my family loves…I have made it for years.  One of my friends that I knew back in college (20+ years ago!) but have since lost track of gave me this recipe.  It is easy, wonderful, hearty, and much-loved at my house!  It is cooked in the slow cooker and so easy to make!

French Dip Au Jus Sandwiches

Slow cook the following ingredients in a crock pot for six hours on low:

1 Chuck roast (beef)

1 cup of water

1 packet of dry au jus mix (found at the store near gravy mixes)

1/4 cup dried minced onions

Season with onion powder, black pepper, and salt

After slow-cooking for six hours, the roast will be very tender.  You can either shred it with a fork or use a kitchen scissors to cut it into bits (just stick those scissors in the pot!).  Using a slotted spoon, strain the meat and put it on sliced hard rolls.  Add a slice of cheese to the sandwich if you wish.  Pour a little extra liquid into small dishes for au jus sauce to dip the sandwiches.  It is amazing!
